As we as a nation (and world) reflect on the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center buildings, the Pentagon, and attempted attack on Congress, I am at a pause.
I was only 18 when this happened and couldn’t truly understand the horror of this tragedy.
I continue to learn more and more about that horrific day and the people involved.
May God have mercy on us all.
People are heavily impacted by their beliefs (including religious beliefs). Typically, extremism of any belief may be associated with poor outcomes.
Al-Qaeda led their pilots to believe in a Kamikaze mission to their death, not caring who was also injured (including mentally or psychologically) or killed in the process.
How can such hate and purposeful destruction be directed at an entire people? Some say it is brainwashing. Others say it is a religious and cultural difference.
We should always question our beliefs–no matter who or what directed us to accept such “truths”. History has shown us over and over again that we as humans are highly fallible.
May we never forget. Ever.
